What brand of Flour in the UK is a soft wheat flour?
Posted by WhiteWheat | Posted in White Wheat Flour | Posted on 27-04-2009
I am used to using White Lily flour in the states and it is what makes southern sweets perfect. So what brand of flour in the UK has a softer/light texture and is really fine… good for making biscuits, cookies, cakes? I have done some research and they say that White Lily is a "Soft Wheat" flour which is what makes it lighter. I am cooking some biscuits tonight! Help!

I am a former chef from Canada and travel to the UK to visit my chef friends, and there it is the cake and pastry flour in the shops, even there "plain" flour is alot softer than the all purpose in the US, bread flour is the harder winter wheat used for a crust in bread.
Check around Tesco sells a brand, I was in ASDA in Liverpool last fall and saw some, even the small places may have it, some larger city's have shops were you can buy bulk items.
